Thursday night, Joe Biden formally addressed the country for the first time as the official Democratic nominee -- and many say he sounded just like the next president.

Biden declared that "America is at an inflection point. A time of real peril, but of extraordinary possibilities."

The former vice president ended on a hopeful note despite the current climate, saying, "May history be able to say that the end of this chapter of American darkness began here tonight as love and hope and light joined in the battle for the soul of the nation. And this is a battle that we, together, will win."

For many Americans, it was the kind of speech they miss hearing from their commander-in-chief. But Axios News reports that, in the midst of a blitz of negative advertising against the Biden-Harris ticket, Donald Trump has "closed the gap on presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's lead among registered voters."
