Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the USPS has faced challenges like never before, endangering critical services upon which millions of American rely. When the country first realized our Post Office was in danger, I made a promise: I refused to let the USPS go.

After months of advocacy, and as Trump seeks to undermine the USPS in a way that he admits will harm our democracy, I'm proud to announce I just voted to provide emergency assistance for the USPS.

Michiganders depend on the USPS for prescriptions and paychecks. Small businesses plan everything around timely deliveries. And as a record number of folks vote by mail, faith in our postal service is tantamount to faith in our democracy.

I refuse to play political games with our Post Office. In May of this year, 91% of Americans reported favorable views of the USPS. And believe it or not, that number didn't change by party. 91% of Democrats and 91% of Republicans approve of the USPS.

In voting to fund the USPS, I know I stand with hard-working families who simply want their mail to go where it's supposed to go and arrive as soon as possible. Aside from the logo on our mail trucks, there's nothing red or blue about that.

Together, we will save the USPS and fully restore service. That's the promise I made to you in April -- and that's the promise I'm keeping today.
