Friend,
We did it.
We're 73 days out from Election Day! August has been a whirlwind — my son Nathan started (virtual!) 3rd grade, Georgians turned out to vote in the August 11 runoff election, and Democrats nominated Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as our presidential and vice presidential candidates.
Our campaign continues to be mostly virtual as the disastrous mismanagement of the coronavirus crisis puts our health at risk here in Georgia. After reopening way too early, COVID-19 cases are continuing to spike, and Gov. Brian Kemp failed to put together a plan to allow students and teachers to safely return to school. This pandemic is no one's fault — but our state's and country's refusal to prepare for this moment is. I'm deeply grateful for our public school teachers who are making the best of tough circumstances and virtually connecting with students like my son.
We had another Election Day in Georgia! I proudly voted in our August 11 runoff. As we get closer to November 3rd, the need to provide safe, secure ways for people to vote becomes more urgent. Georgians are turning out in historic numbers this year, but face unacceptable barriers to the ballot box. You shouldn't have to risk your health in order to vote — my team will be working hard to make sure every Georgian can vote safely and securely this November.
Though the momentum is with us, we can't let our foot off the gas, even for a moment. There's too much at stake. This is a campaign powered by working families and everyday Georgians — I care about our shared struggles and will work hard every day to be your advocate in Congress.
As always, I'm deeply grateful for your support. We will get across the finish line and bring true leadership to Georgia, together.
In hope and faith,
Carolyn
