John,

Mai Vang is officially headed to the General Election in CA-07! 🎉

Mai took on a 48-year political dynasty — and won. Her opponent, incumbent
Doris Matsui, had twice the campaign resources, AIPAC money in her
warchest, hundreds of thousands from defense contractors, and the full
backing of the Sacramento political establishment. Mai still came out on
top.

That’s not just a win, it’s a statement about the future of CA-07 and the
Democratic Party.

One where working class communities finally have a seat at the table. One
where corporate money and establishment backing don’t automatically decide
who gets to represent a district. And one where the candidate with the
right message and real roots in their community can beat the machine.

This is our 14th win this cycle, and we’re incredibly proud to have
supported Mai in this race. She’s exactly the kind of candidate we were
built to back.

Being a working mom and the daughter of Hmong refugees who grew up on SNAP
and Medicaid in the same community she’s been fighting for her entire life
— that matters. It means she never needed a briefing to understand what
working families in Sacramento are up against. It’s a reality she’s lived
herself.

If Mai wins in November, she’ll make history as the first Hmong American
ever elected to Congress. I won’t sugar coat it, this race will be
competitive. Mai will be facing Matsui again in a head-to-head matchup.
But she just proved that she has what it takes to win, even when the
establishment goes all in against her.

The momentum is real, the grassroots energy behind her campaign is
palpable, and her deep ties to the community set her apart from her
opponent. What Mai needs right now are the resources to sustain her fight
all the way to November.

Thank you,

P.S. If it confuses you that Mai won her primary but is still running
against her Democratic opponent in November, don’t worry! It’s because of
California’s unique primary system. They have a non-partisan primary
system where the top two from the primary, no matter the party, advance to
the General.
