JOHN,

It was never my dream to run for office. If you've been here since the beginning, you know that I dreamed of being a truck driver just like my dad.

I decided to run because I'm tired of seeing Wisconsinites work hard and play by the rules only to be left behind by a government that doesn't work for them.

To serve your community is to know your community, and that’s why I’ve made it my personal mission to meet with as many folks across Wisconsin’s 33rd as possible—I think we’re off to a pretty good start! ⬇️

But meeting voters takes resources. It takes gas in the tank, literature at the doors, yard signs in neighborhoods, and the ability to reach voters who may not hear from anyone else this year.

We need more public servants who are focused on good government for their communities over backroom deals with corporate interests.

I’m eager to continue getting to know Wisconsinites in every corner of our district, and I hope you’ll join our growing coalition to flip this seat and build a government that actually works for all of us.

JOHN, if you believe our state legislature should work for the people and not the highest bidder, I need you on my team. Can you pitch in whatever you can spare today to help me flip this seat and bring us one step closer to restoring a sensible majority back to the legislature? >>

JOIN TEAM MIKE

Hope to see you out there!

Let's do this,
Mike Van Someren

From the age of five, I planned to be a truck driver like my dad. I had no interest in college until a teacher spotted me in the halls—already a foot taller than my classmates—and got me into football and basketball.

In my small hometown of Somerset, Wisconsin, I became a three-sport athlete, National Honor Society member, and All-State football player. That led to playing for the UW–Madison Badgers, where I played offensive tackle. I became the first in my family to graduate college, earning a History degree.

Inspired by new goals, I went on to Marquette Law School, where I worked relentlessly—serving on Law Review and graduating cum laude. That same week, I married my wife Renee. I began my legal career assisting business owners and nonprofits, and eventually became a shareholder at Amundsen Davis (formerly Davis|Kuelthau) and have won numerous industry awards.

In 2022, driven by a deep belief that government should work for everyday people—not just the well-connected—I ran for Congress. I entered the race to bring common-sense leadership and a voice of reason to a system that too often rewards division over progress. Though we didn’t win, we built a grassroots campaign focused on economic opportunity, protecting democracy, and restoring trust in public service—and I remain proud of the conversations we sparked and the community we built.
