Senator Bernie Sanders and I have a plan to change that. Our 5 percent Billionaire Tax would raise an estimated $4.5 trillion by requiring the wealthiest Americans to finally pay their fair share.
And it uses that money to:
* Expand Medicare to cover dental, vision, and hearing
* Strengthen and extend healthcare access
* Provide a $3,000 check to every American earning under $150,000
* Guarantee a $60,000 minimum salary for every public school teacher.
In the richest country on Earth, no senior should go without dental care. No family should skip hearing aids because of cost. And working Americans deserve direct relief.
For too long, billionaires have paid lower effective tax rates than teachers, nurses, and firefighters.
