It’s up to us to make sure that David Koch’s legacy doesn’t last.

John

Did you know that thanks to massive loopholes in the American tax code, much of David Koch’s fortune will likely be passed along to his heirs virtually tax free?

You see, the Kochs (and many other wealthy families) don’t keep their fortunes in cash. They keep them as shares of businesses and stock that they own. And as those assets rise in value their owners avoid paying any federal income tax until they are sold, which may be never. And now, David Koch’s heirs will inherit much of this great untaxed wealth tax free.

The American people are fed up with a tax system and an economy that favors the rich and powerful. It’s time for Congress to end this rigged tax system that grows the fortunes of a few at the expense of the rest of us.

Help us reach our August fundraising goals and fight back against policies that have allowed the Koch brothers and other billionaires to build and maintain dynasties at the expense of the rest of us.

Thank you,

Craig Johnson

Subject: David Koch’s legacy >>>

John,

The Koch brothers’ legacy of right-wing political activism goes back decades. In 1980, David Koch ran on the Libertarian Party’s ticket as their vice presidential nominee. Their party’s platform, in addition to including “the abolition of Medicare and Medicaid” and the “repeal of the fraudulent, virtually bankrupt, and increasingly oppressive Social Security system,” included this line:

“We oppose all personal and corporate income taxation, including capital gains taxes.”[1]

Since then, David and his older brother Charles have been on a political crusade to horde their wealth at the expense of the rest of us. And they’ve had incredible success.

When David Koch passed away last week, he was worth an estimated $50 billion. And thanks to the policies that he’s shepherded through Congress, he’ll likely be passing most of that fortune along to his heirs virtually tax free.

It’s our responsibility to make sure that David Koch’s legacy doesn’t last ― that we repeal the right-wing policies that he and his brother have successfully shepherded through Congress over the past 40 years that have resulted in record levels of income and wealth inequality.

Right now, we’re coming up a little short in our August fundraising goals. Your support today is critical to repealing the Trump-GOP tax scam and ending a rigged economy that allows billionaires like the Koch brothers to accumulate and pass along dynastic wealth virtually tax free.
