Hi john,
What a week! Do they make a salve for third degree gaslighting burns? Maybe that Covid horsepaste? Cuz we’re gonna need something to take the sting out of this week’s news!
Here we go!
Sarah Suckabee Sanders Saying “La La La I Can’t Hear You!”
Arkansas lawmakers spent years insisting their abortion ban protects patients. Weirdly, now that people harmed by that ban are suing, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders is fighting efforts to sit for a deposition [[link removed]] . The lawsuit was brought by women who were denied abortion care under Arkansas' near-total ban, including a patient forced to leave the state after learning her pregnancy was not viable. "We stand by this law" turns into "no comment" real fast when the lawyers show up.
Three-panel promotional graphic on a teal background. On the left, a person is shown shouting toward the center with a speech bubble that reads, “I NEED AN ABORTION!” In the center, a woman wearing headphones appears to be ignoring the statement, with musical notes around her head. On the right, another person is shown shouting with a speech bubble that reads, “I’M MISCARRYING! I NEED HELP!” The graphic uses humor and contrast to comment on the consequences of ignoring abortion-related healthcare needs. [[link removed]]
Idaho Doctors Are In Court Begging For Basic Medicine
Imagine being a doctor and needing a federal trial just to argue that patients shouldn't have to be on death's doorstep before receiving abortion care. That's exactly what's happening in Idaho [[link removed]] , where a maternal-fetal medicine specialist is challenging the state's abortion ban and asking for medical exceptions for patients facing devastating pregnancy complications. Doctors testified they are so afraid of prosecution that they're sending patients out of state for care they used to provide themselves. Nothing says "pro-life" quite like forcing sick pregnant people onto airplanes because lawmakers think they know medicine better than doctors.
Maybe The Buzzkills Are The Balm We Need?
Illustrated graphic promoting a new Feminist Buzzkills podcast episode. Bright yellow text at top left reads NEW POD THIS WEEK. On the left is an illustrated portrait of Moji Alawode-El with short natural hair and a red top. On the right is Lizz Winstead with long white hair, red glasses, and a blue and teal outfit. Both have yellow name tags below their illustrations. On the right, the Feminist Buzzkills Podcast neon-style logo is prominently displayed against a dark starry background. [[link removed]]
Lizz and Moji are back with a piping hot batch of podcast just for you this week! They scoured last weekend’s chunderfest that was the Lady TPUSA event so you didn’t have to, and then went deep into the dance card of the FDA’s acting commissioner (and Don Jr’s turkey hunting pal) Kyle Diamantas. Seems ol’ Kyle had a shit ton of “pro-life” meet-ups last week and made them all kinds of promises. We get into what he said he’d deliver, and what it could mean for access to medication abortion.
Promotional graphic for the Feminist Buzzkills Podcast. The podcast logo appears on the left above the words “Special Guest” and “Friday, June 12.” In the center is a portrait of Dr. Jennifer Lincoln wearing a white medical coat. On the right, text identifies her as an OB-GYN, author, and social media educator. Additional text reads: “Dr. Jennifer Lincoln talks about her new book, The Birth Book, AKA a guide to everything you need to know before having a baby.” A banner along the bottom includes a subscribe message, social media icons, and Abortion Access Front branding. [[link removed]]
PLUS we've got Dr. Jennifer Lincoln joining us! Dr. Jen is a queen on Instagram, destroying the MAHA Mamas and dropping all the knowledge! She also talks about her tome, The Birthing Book, which helps you navigate all things GIVING BIRTH! She helps you navigate not only what happens when you deliver, but how to advocate for yourself ahead of time, so you can have the birth experience YOU want! This is a big and hilarious knowledge dump so plug in, tune in, and turn up your activism!

Oh Mife You’re So Fine, You’re So Fine You Blow My Mind!
Can You Share Your Medication Abortion Story? For years, anti-abortion groups have tried to convince everyone that mifepristone is dangerous. The problem? Science keeps getting in the way. A new piece by AAF Board Member Amy Hagstrom Miller [[link removed]] and Forward Midwifery's Christie Pitney lays out what abortion providers, patients, and anyone paying attention already knows: attacks on mifepristone were never really about safety. They're about making abortion harder to get – period .
That's why every lawsuit, every junk study, every attempt to override decades of medical evidence matters. If anti-abortion extremists can convince courts and politicians to ignore science and restrict the most common method of abortion in America, they won't stop there. That’s where YOU come in!
A graphic promoting the Mife Stories project. Against a black background, all-capitalized text in teal and white reads: Your medication abortion story matters, helps, and protects access. Across the bottom of the graphic is a teal strip with white text giving the website where you can submit a story: mifestories.com. There are also the four logos of the organizations working on this project: Abortion Access Front, Shout Your Abortion, We Testify, and Ultraviolet. [[link removed]]
If you’ve had a medication abortion, congrats! You are exactly who we need.
Anti-abortion ghouls are out here lying through their busted teeth to ban mifepristone (mife), trying to eliminate access by mail, and even roll back approval entirely of a medication that has been used safely worldwide for DECADES. So no, we’re not letting that slide.
Your medication abortion story is the reality check to the propaganda driving this hard turn into the 1800s! Drop your story at Mifestories.com, and help drag the truth into the light: mifepristone is safe, effective, and basic healthcare. And we all deserve access.
