News From The Week Of August 26 - August 30, 2019
Friend:
Can you believe that it’s already Labor Day Weekend? To me, that’s always meant that back-to-school season is here. This year it’s an especially poignant moment since I just dropped my youngest child off at college. I’m excited for him, but it’s left me feeling a little blue too.
I know one way I’m going to make myself feel better. To protect my own and all of our children’s religious freedom in America, I’m going to make a donation to Americans United that will be matched by a very generous donor. Will you join me?
Midnight tonight is the deadline for our August Match! If you haven’t already given, please consider supporting us today with a matched gift: [link removed]
We launched this August matching opportunity because we knew it was time for bold, proactive steps to combat the rising tide of discrimination in the name of religion. We knew it was time for solutions like the Do No Harm Act, which would make it clear that taxpayer-funded discrimination is unacceptable.
A few weeks into our campaign, the Trump administration announced that it was planning to take taxpayer-funded discrimination a step further. They proposed a new rule that would allow government contractors to fire LGBTQ people, single mothers, religious minorities or any of the many workers employed by federal contractors who failed their religious litmus test. This rule underscores just how important it is that we defend religious freedom more vigorously than ever.
In honor of Labor Day weekend, please join me in protecting the religious freedom and livelihood of countless workers and take advantage of our August Match. Friend, click here to give before midnight, and your gift will go twice as far: [link removed]
I hope you agree that a gift to Americans United is a great way to launch your Labor Day weekend. Thanks so much for being with us.
With hope and determination,
