You did it!
For the first time in over twenty years, the Spy State has been dealt a debilitating blow.
As C4L warned late yesterday, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) rushed a 3-week extension of FISA Section 702 to the floor for opening debate last night.
The final vote – which FAILED 198-218 – was postponed until this morning.
After the failed vote, the House adjourned for a full week.
What a huge victory!
Many of the representatives Campaign for Liberty staff identified as targets in this battle, voted the right way.
Unfortunately, some of them caved and either voted for the short-term renewal or didn’t show up to vote at all.
And while you and I can rejoice at this victory for now, I know all too well the Spy State isn’t going to just roll over.
I fully expect 702 renewal to be back on the docket soon after the House returns to the D.C. Swamp.
So we have very little time to regroup and prepare for another hard push against warrantless 702 renewal.
As you can imagine, this long and protracted battle for the warrant requirement has stretched our finances thin . . . too thin.
Without an influx of financial support, I fear we’ll only be able to muster a small whimper in the next round of this battle for the Constitution.
I don’t want to go away quietly, especially when we are so close to getting a full victory.
And I don’t think you do either.
Many Campaign for Liberty supporters have stepped up over the past few months with your petitions, your phone calls to Congress, and with your financial support.
And we are truly grateful.
Campaign for Liberty staff will continue to work the phones, deliver your petitions, and demand Congress uphold our rights.
Legislators from BOTH parties need to hear LOUD AND CLEAR you and I will settle for nothing less than the full restoration of our Fourth Amendment rights.
It’s pretty simple: NO WARRANT REQUIREMENT? NO RENEWAL!
