I’m really damn proud about all the hard work state representatives have undertaken to protect people from Big Tech: -
HB 1834 would stop huge electricity rate increases, require that data centers be powered by a significant portion of new, clean energy, and put protections in place to help prevent blackouts.
-
HB 2151 would help municipalities decide where data centers can be built, how big they can be, and other crucial siting decisions that communities should make before data centers apply for permits
-
HB 2150 would require that data centers report their energy and water usage to the state so that the legislature can curb dangerous practices that they didn’t anticipate
- HB 2246 would require data centers that plan to use more than 100,000 gallons of water per day to notify the state before beginning construction
The thing is, all of these policies would be state law already if the State Senate had taken action!
Because Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman refuses to act, there are still zero regulations in Pennsylvania on AI data centers – even though data centers can use as much electricity as an entire town and use millions of gallons of water every day.
We can’t let Big Tech continue to run wild while our communities pay the price.
Majority Leader Pittman might decide what bills get brought to the floor. But if his colleagues start hearing from hundreds of constituents, they’re going to speak up and push to move some of these bills. That’s why we need your help.
Please send a message to Senator Nikil Saval to urge them to demand movement on commonsense data center regulations passed by the State House. |
