DC Council votes to revise the FY27 budget affecting workers

On June 9th, the DC Council held the first of two votes for the FY27 budget.
Chairman Mendelson is adding $100 million to the Workforce Investment Account, which pays for collective bargaining agreements. Mayor Bowser’s FY27 budget proposal removed $127 million in funding set-asides for future collective bargaining agreements and non-union pay raises for city employees.
The DC Council voted to restore more than $400 million in funding to programs including the Pay Equity Fund, funding new housing vouchers, Access to Justice grants, Healthcare Alliance, the Childcare Subsidy, amongst other funding restored for social safety net programs drastically cut by Mayor Bowser's proposed FY27 budget.
