Hi John, hello! I’m Daniel, and I'm so excited that the Congresswoman (and Luke) let me use her email to say hi and share that I’ll be spending my second summer interning on Mary Gay’s campaign.

I’m grateful and happy to be back, I learned so much last time. When I first started, I thought campaigns were mostly speeches, TV ads, and Election Day. I was very wrong about that.

What I've learned is that so much more real work happens every day in conversations with voters, volunteer training, community events, constituent outreach, and all the behind-the-scenes stuff that keeps a campaign moving. And all of that is funded by supporters willing to donate what they can. It’s incredible! If you want to help, you can chip in here. [[link removed]]

I'm back for another summer because it feels important to do something to show people how politics done right can make life better. If you’ve always wondered what it’s like, I thought I'd give you a quick look at a typical day on the campaign for me:
🕘 9:00 AM — Arrive at the office, grab coffee, and catch up on what's happening in Pennsylvania and Washington.
🕙 10:00 AM — Help answer emails and organize supporter responses.
🕦 11:30 AM — Coffee run for the team!🥤
🕛 12:15 PM — Sit in on a campaign meeting about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and ways to reach more voters.
🕛 1:00 PM — Lunch and catching up with the news online. 👀
🕑 2:00 PM — Research local issues and help prepare materials for community outreach and an upcoming volunteer phone bank.
🕒 3:30 PM — Read and catalogue messages from supporters about the issues they're most concerned about right now.
🕔 5:00 PM — Wrap up the day by helping the team track volunteer signups and prepare for the next event!🫡

Every day looks a little different, but I've learned something important: The work NEVER stops. There is always someone with something to share, something to build, some kind of outreach to do, or something I can lend a hand to.

It’s made me realize just how interconnected we all truly are, and how Mary Gay’s re-election campaign is about a much bigger story than even I realized last summer.

We’re building a movement, not just trying to win one race.

So on that note Mary Gay and Luke said I should ask:
What questions do you have for Mary Gay or our campaign team? What surprises you about what you’ve learned with this team? What do you want ME to know, since maybe you’ve been around even longer than I have! [[link removed]]

Maybe you're wondering about what comes next in Congress. Maybe you're curious about the campaign. Maybe you want to know what we're hearing from voters across PA-05. Maybe you have some tips for me and the rest of the team!

Whatever it is, we'd love to hear from you.

We'll read every response, and some questions may even be featured in future campaign updates.

Thanks for letting me introduce myself. I'm excited to spend another summer with this team and even more excited about what we can accomplish together.

— Daniel
