Bring community together to reclaim our rights.

Friend –

For years, supporters across Wisconsin have asked us the same question: "How can I do more to support the ACLU in my own community?"

Whether it's hosting a backyard gathering, organizing a neighborhood event, or bringing friends together around a cause you care about, many of you have wanted a way to turn community-building into meaningful action. That's why we're excited to announce the launch of our new Community Fundraising Toolkit, <[link removed]> a resource designed to help supporters create their own grassroots fundraising events in support of civil liberties and civil rights across Wisconsin.

The toolkit includes fundraising ideas, planning guidance, sample timelines, outreach materials, and creative ways to engage your community. Whether you're interested in hosting a house party, a summer cookout, a trivia night, a book club gathering, or something entirely your own, we've created this resource to help you get started. <[link removed]>

As summer gets underway and our country approaches its 250th anniversary this year, we're inviting supporters to consider incorporating a fundraising element into their Fourth of July celebrations and other summer gatherings.

We recognize that patriotism and the meaning of Independence Day can feel very different from person to person, and community to community. America's history includes both inspiring progress and painful injustice. For many people, the Fourth of July is not only a time for celebration, but also a time for reflection, accountability, and renewed commitment to the ongoing work of making our nation's founding ideals a reality for everyone.

At the ACLU of Wisconsin, we believe patriotism can mean striving to create a country that more fully lives up to its promises of liberty, equality, dignity, and justice. As we look toward our nation's 250th anniversary, we have an opportunity to reflect on how far we've come, recognize the work that remains, and recommit ourselves to protecting the rights and freedoms of all people.

That's why we're encouraging supporters to this summer by bringing people together in ways that build community and support the defense of civil liberties. Your event doesn't have to be large or complicated. A donation jar at a barbecue, a ticketed potluck, a community picnic, or a gathering of friends can make a meaningful difference.

Every dollar raised helps strengthen our ability to defend constitutional rights, challenge injustice, educate communities about their rights, and advocate for policies that protect the freedoms of all Wisconsinites.
