Three years ago today, a section of I-95 collapsed in Philly. And John, I remember what the experts told me after it happened.

They said it would take months to reopen the roadway. Months of gridlock. Months of traffic jams. Months of headaches for working Pennsylvanians.

The next day, I issued a proclamation of disaster emergency to cut through the red tape and provide Commonwealth agencies with the resources they needed to do their jobs. Hours later, crews started working around the clock.

Four days after the collapse? We set up a 24/7 livestream of the construction site, so Pennsylvanians could see exactly what their government was up to. No vague, ambiguous statements. No promises without evidence to back it up.

The day after that? Pennsylvania union workers began laying the foundation for the interim roadway.

Not long after, we made it official: We reopened six lanes of traffic on I-95 just twelve days after an unprecedented collapse.

We didn’t accept the status quo. We buckled down and got to work. And John, I’ve brought that same mindset to everything I do as your Governor.

When I took office, I was one of the only Governors in the nation working with a divided legislature — a Republican-controlled State Senate, and a Democratic-controlled State House. In many other states, it was a recipe for gridlock and disaster. But here in Pennsylvania? We got sh*t done.

Record funding for our public schools. Free breakfasts for every Pennsylvania K-12 student. Seven tax cuts for families, seniors, and small businesses across our Commonwealth.

I still hear it from the pundits all the time, John: Delivering real, lasting progress in a swing state is impossible — a thing of the past. But we’re proving them wrong every day.

If that’s the kind of leadership that speaks to you, I’m counting on your support throughout this competitive, consequential election year. Because make no mistake: Not every politician agrees with what we’re doing. And if we want to keep it up, we need lots and lots of folks to chip in ahead of our critical End-of-Quarter fundraising deadline. That’s the honest truth. [[link removed]]
