Email from Rep. Hinson Dear Friend, Childcare is one of the biggest expenses facing working families, and while Republicans successfully modernized key childcare tax credits for the first time since 2001, more work remains. This week I worked across the aisle to introduce a bill that would update and strengthen the federal government’s primary childcare program for the first time in over a decade. In this bill, we are ensuring parents, providers, and employers have a seat at the table when states develop childcare plans so solutions reflect the needs of Iowa’s local communities. And especially while working families are struggling to find childcare that fits their family and budget needs, parents need more options. My bipartisan bill will expand access to affordable, quality childcare for Iowa families. Families deserve policies that make it easier to work, raise children, and build a better future, and I'll keep fighting to deliver them. Read more about my legislation here. Sincerely, Some Good News in IA-02 Congratulations to longtime Iowa County Sheriff Robert Rotter on being sworn in as U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Iowa. For too long, this important position sat vacant. I want to thank the acting U.S. Marshal, Chris Barther, for his service and leadership over the past five years as he helped lead the mission of the Marshals Service during that time. Sheriff Rotter has spent 30 years serving and protecting Iowans, and his appointment ensures Iowa has the leadership this critical role deserves. I'm so grateful for all he’s done in service to our great state, and wish him the very best in this new role! Team Hinson in IA-02 Great running into Cathy Meyer with Save the Children Action Network at the Cedar Rapids Airport before my flight to DC! A big thank you to Cathy and so many advocates, parents, and providers who helped inform our work on the Child Care Modernization Act and keep the focus on expanding affordable, quality childcare for families. My team was excited to attend the Leadership Dubuque graduation ceremony and celebrate this year's class of graduates. Participants spent the past few months learning more about the people, organizations, and issues that shape the Dubuque region while building connections with community leaders. Congratulations to the graduates, and thank you to the Dubuque Area Chamber for investing in future community leaders! My team also toured the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Dubuque and learned more about the programs and opportunities it provides for local students in Dubuque. From STEM education and leadership development to after-school activities and nutrition support, the organization serves an important role for many families in the Dubuque community! Team Hinson also joined farmers and agriculture leaders at the Roots and Results Field Day in Bremer County! Iowa producers are always looking for ways to improve and adapt, and it was great to see that spirit on display. Check out this amazing chart showing all the different ways corn is used! Iowa farmers truly feed and fuel the world while producing the crops that go into thousands of products we use every day. Thank a farmer today! Facebook Instagram X Truth Stay Connected Rep.
