If one traces the etiology of this current war back, its antecedents are the Islamic Republic of Iran, and its terror proxy, Hezbollah. Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the mullahs have never given up on the thought of eradicating the state of Israel, as well as the United States.

Another player that has been, at least rhetorically, entering the picture currently is President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, who has described Israel’s defensive operations as “barbaric” and “a blood stained genocide network”. While the Islamic Republic and Hezbollah would like a Shiite conquest of the Middle East, Erdogan is preparing for a Sunni conquest.
