Hello, Friends —

This week, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has continued to refuse to negotiate with the White House on a coronavirus bill, and thus continues to hold hostage the future well-being of the American people.

Meanwhile, Speaker Pelosi will call the House back into session on Saturday to vote on a bailout of the US Postal Service, which has lost over $50 billion over the past decade.

Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats have manufactured an absolutely fact-free “postal crisis” in an attempt to scare voters — even going so far as to claim that individuals who mail in their ballots may not have their votes counted.

This is categorically untrue.

Earlier this week, Louis DeJoy, the Postmaster General, released a statement saying:

"The Postal Service is ready today to handle whatever volume of election mail it receives this fall. Even with the challenges of keeping our employees and customers safe and healthy as they operate amid a pandemic, we will deliver the nation’s election mail on time and within our well-established service standards. The American public should know that this is our number one priority between now and election day. The 630,000 dedicated women and men of the Postal Service are committed, ready and proud to meet this sacred duty."

I have no doubt he is correct.

DeJoy also said in his statement that, in order to avoid even the appearance of any impact on election mail, he would be suspending efforts aimed at reforming the USPS to ensure its long-term viability until after the election is concluded.

I very rarely say this, but this Washington Post op-ed has it entirely right: Democrats’ postal conspiracy is the biggest made-up controversy since Russiagate.

ACADEMY NIGHT

Image

I have often mentioned how proud I am to nominate students from across Florida’s First District to America’s military service academies. It is truly one of the most rewarding parts of serving in Congress.

Many people have reached out and asked when I am holding another “Academy Night” — an informal, informational meeting about the service academy application process. I will be holding another Academy Night on Tuesday, September 8 — but in light of the pandemic, it will be held virtually. If you’re interested, please click on the flyer, or visit HERE for more information!

HONORING BRAVERY

Image

Northwest Florida has a history of producing heroes. It is with great pride that I echo the praise conferred by the United States Coast Guard upon Asaih Williams, a nine-year-old boy who acted quickly and fearlessly to save his injured father at Pensacola Beach. His brave conduct is an inspiration.

I am proud to count Asaih as a constituent, and I’m inspired that he has demonstrated such admirable character at a very young age.
