John, this is the most important email I have ever sent you.

Here’s where things stand after my primary election last night in one of the closest House races in the entire country:

— As of 9am, the race is too close to call
— No candidate has received 50% of the vote
— We are currently at 29.4% and in a very close 2nd place!
— That means this race will now move to ranked choice voting.
— In ranked choice voting, ballots are retallied using voters’ 2nd and 3rd place choices until one candidate reaches a majority.

John, this thing could come down to just a handful of votes.

It’s going to be INCREDIBLY close.

And things are changing by the second.

The entire House majority is riding on this seat. I need to be prepared for ANYTHING, which means I need to start raising funds for a potential recount scenario ASAP. We are in a strong position going into this final stretch, but if we don’t have the funds to ensure every vote is counted and every scenario is planned for, we could let this opportunity slip right through our fingers. That’s why I just opened an emergency Recount Fund to make sure we have the resources to count every vote, prepare for every possible outcome, and move this fight into the general election against Paul LePage. So I’m setting a critical goal: 10,000 donations before midnight to put us in the strongest possible position for whatever comes next.
