Please join us on Saturday, September 12th, 2020 at 10AM CT for our (virtual) monthly meeting when we will be hosting Chicago filmmaker Ines Sommer and co-producer Terra Brockman for a movie discussion of the new film "Seasons of Change on Henry's Farm".
We encourage you to view the film in advance of the Sept 12th meeting, and feel free to bring your questions for Ines and Terra. The film is available to everyone for a limited engagement via the Gene Siskel Film Center’s online platform.
"Seasons of Change on Henry's Farm" hits close to home for many Illinoisans. This documentary follows organic farmer Henry Brockman as he grapples with the impacts of a changing climate on his family farm in central Illinois.
Synopsis: For a quarter-century, Henry Brockman has worked alongside nature to grow delicious organic vegetables on his idyllic Midwestern family farm. But farming takes a toll on his aging body and Henry dreams of scaling back. While his former apprentices run the farm, Henry spends a “fallow year” with his wife Hiroko in Japan. But things don’t turn out as planned, and Henry must grapple with the future of farming in a changing climate on personal, generational, and global levels.
(Visit Facebook or MeetUp if you would like to RSVP to receive event reminders from either.)
In addition to the movie discussion, we will share updates on recent efforts of the 350 Chicago team, including our fossil fuel divestment campaign as well as details about our exciting upcoming fundraiser. We look forward to seeing you there!
