The Transaction Behind Your Laws
Here is something the Brennan Center documented [ [link removed] ] and something most people never hear about: billionaire-funded Super PACs don’t just support candidates, they shape the policies those candidates champion once elected.
We’re talking about tax cuts that benefit the ultra-wealthy even when a clear majority of voters want something different. Think about the Big Ugly Bill. I fought against this bill and saw how it took 6 months from drafting to passing a trillion dollar tax cut to the wealthiest people in history.
Voters want expanded SNAP. Voters want school meals for every child. Voters want health care for all. But when a billionaire writes a $50 million check to a Super PAC, those priorities get quietly shelved.
That’s not democracy. That’s a transaction.
78% of voters support taxing billionaires fairly. Yet according to the Brennan Center for Justice’s Influence Overview, 91% of analyzed outcomes from Super PAC-backed campaigns benefited donor tax priorities over voter ones.
The Quiet Violence of Money in Politics
For years, I’ve met with families in Virginia’s 1st district who are rationing insulin. Parents who skip meals so their kids can eat. Seniors choosing between prescriptions and rent. Hard working folks who have to reject raises they’ve earned so they don’t lose more SNAP/TANF benefits than they gain in income.
And every time a billionaire Super PAC floods an election with cash, those neighbors get a little further from the table where decisions are made. That’s the quiet violence of money in politics. It doesn’t look like corruption. It looks like policy.
There are two visions on the ballot:
Billionaire-Backed Agenda: Tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy. Gutted SNAP and school meals. Corporate health care profits. Donor issues over people’s needs.
The People’s Agenda: Tax billionaires. Expand SNAP and free school meals. Medicare for All. Get big money out of politics. A government that works for you, not a donor class. (spoiler alert: this is our campaign)
How We Fight Back
Our campaign takes zero dollars from corporate PACs. Zero from billionaire bundlers. Every dollar comes from working families who are tired of the status quo and ready for change.
While Billionaires have their Super PACs, we have each other. And in a democracy, the people united will never be defeated.
Here’s how you can be part of it right now:
