John, all we have to say is... wow.
The 2020 Democratic National Convention was historic. Never before has the issue of gun violence been placed on center stage and addressed in such a meaningful way at a party convention.
Millions of Americans heard from brave survivors — like Fred Guttenberg, Gabby Giffords, Emma Gonzalez, and DeAndra Dycus — who have committed their lives to preventing the toll of gun violence they know all too well. Together, they underscored how America’s gun violence epidemic affects every person and community across our nation.
And John, we heard their clarion call loud and clear —
VOTE. Vote like we've never voted before to elect candidates who will fight against the epidemic of gun violence.
Here at Brady, we know that access and participation in our democracy and the fight to prevent gun violence are inseparable. It's why we launched our #VotingAccessSavesLives campaign [[link removed]] alongside March For Our Lives and Team ENOUGH. Because the communities most disenfranchised in our democracy are those also most affected by gun violence . We know the fight for gun violence prevention IS the fight for our democracy.
Our lifesaving work cannot wait. Ahead of the election of our lifetime, we need your help to make our vision a reality. John, will you watch and share our new "We The People" video to help get out the vote ahead of the 2020 election? [[link removed]] By doing so, you're joining Brady in our fight to ensure equal access to the ballot box!

🎧 [[link removed]] What is Gun Liability Insurance? [[link removed]]
After the tragic 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, the public debated various proposals for mandating liability insurance for all gun owners. None of those legislative proposals passed, but the argument continues today. To discuss why that was, what gun liability insurance actually is, and if it could be helpful, JJ is joined by Peter Kochenburger, who is the executive director of the Insurance Law LL.M. Program, deputy director of the Insurance Law Center, and associate clinical professor of law at UConn Law School.

Brady Donor of the Week: Juano Queen
www.bradyunited.org/donor-spotlight/juano-queen [www.bradyunited.org/donor-spotlight/juano-queen]
Juano Queen, attorney and media executive, has the distinct honor of having served on two different Brady Regional Leadership Councils [[link removed]] (RLC), first in New York and now in Los Angeles. In 2018, after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Juano knew that the time had come to become an active participant in the gun violence prevention movement. He reached out to Brady and soon became one of the founding members of the Brady New York RLC.
Juano had always admired Brady’s legacy and mission of reducing America’s gun violence epidemic through collaborative non-partisan efforts. He believes that despite the politicization of gun ownership over the past few decades, gun violence is not a political issue, it is a public health issue. In this era of partisanship, he wholeheartedly supports Brady’s approach to generating lasting positive change in the gun violence prevention movement by attempting to bring people from across the political divide together, rather than trying to simply outspend or outmaneuver the so-called gun rights activists.

At a time when the Postal Service will play an important role in our election due to COVID-19, Postmaster DeJoy is playing politics with our democracy. Already, he has r educed staffing and removed mail sorting machines and post boxes across the United States.
That's why we're proud to recognize 14 State Attorneys General who have filed a lawsuit to hold Postmaster DeJoy accountable. United as one, they're using the power of their office to defend our democracy and Americans' right to vote! But our work is just getting started. We're calling on other State Attorneys General who haven't joined the lawsuit to do so immediately and hold Postmaster DeJoy accountable. Join Brady and send a message to your State Attorney General urging them to hold Postmaster DeJoy accountable!
