Dear John,

You and I know the familiar words of the Declaration of Independence.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

However, nearly 250 years since Jefferson penned these words, the right to life has been cast aside and left unprotected in our nation -- most significantly through the pro-abortion movement.

Many assumed that the overturn of Roe v. Wade back in 2022 would mean that we'd see a decline in abortion rates.

I was hopeful, too.

But tragically, the Biden administration established unlawful policies allowing for the mail-in abortion drug mifepristone to be shipped nationwide, without any medical oversight -- and the Trump administration has left these policies in place. Now, the abortion pill is responsible for more than 60% of all abortions in the U.S. today.

As long as the abortion industry is able to operate under an Amazon-business model, delivering deadly abortion pills to doorsteps all across America regardless of state laws, the number of abortions will continue to increase, ravaging the hearts and bodies of women as it takes the lives of their children.

Thankfully, after sounding the alarm for months, we are seeing movement in the right direction with key legislators on Capitol Hill and as the court systems begin to reckon with the destruction caused by the FDA's policy on these drugs.

Here at Family Research Council, we will continue to do everything we can to fight for the unborn.

As Speaker of the House Mike Johnson stated recently, our Declaration of Independence doesn't say we were "born equal" -- it says we are "created equal."

This is not semantics -- it's the difference between building an enduring nation and ending Western civilization as we know it.

According to a new report from the Guttmacher Institute from its Monthly Abortion Provision Study, January 2026 saw an estimated total of 99,470 abortions.

That's in January of this year alone.

Additionally, 81% of online abortion companies are violating the FDA's 10-week gestational limit on dispensing abortion drugs!

That means not even the FDA's lax permissions are being followed or enforced.

This cannot be allowed. It is time for the safety of women and babies, not to mention the rule of law, to take precedence over ideology.

Last Friday, Family Research Council and the American Association of Pro-Life OBGYNs hosted a congressional staff briefing on America's Abortion Drug Crisis.

An abortion pill poisoning survivor, Catherine Herring, joined us to share her story of how her (now ex-)husband administered abortion drugs to her without her knowledge or consent, threatening the life of their unborn baby girl.

FRC will continue engaging congressional staff and elevating awareness of the dangers of abortion-by-mail to promote the best possible legislative outcomes on Capitol Hill.

The lost and confused culture we find ourselves in may continue to argue that fetuses are nothing more than a "clump of cells," but you and I know the truth. And we must cling to it.

I STAND WITH FRC AND THE UNBORN

As we near our nation's 250th anniversary, this is an opportunity to reflect on the past 250 years and think about the future.

Will we honor the legacy left by our founders all those years ago? Will we once again remember that our rights come from God and not government?

Supporting the Right to Life that our Founding Fathers risked everything for could not be more clearly expressed than by protecting the very origins of it in the womb.

For years, America has stood as a beacon to the rest of the world but whether that continues will depend on if we will repent of our nation's sins and once again follow God's ways.

When speaking of the Canaanites' evil practices, where they would sacrifice their sons and daughters in idol worship, Deuteronomy 18:12 makes clear that "whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD."

So, let us earnestly pray that America turns back to the kind and loving God who gives us the precious gift that is life itself.
