Email from Colorado Turnout Project John, All hell has broken loose in Louisiana. Starting on April 28th, 2026, MAGA began an all out assault on Louisiana’s democratic system, a coup, which to this day has still not relented. Following the Supreme Court decision to gut the Voting Rights Act, they cancelled our elections, threw out over 42,000 ballots, and introduced a segregated Jim Crow era map that erases one of our Black majority districts. We face nothing short of the permanent extinction of Democratic power here in Louisiana and we are outmanned and outgunned. However, despite the steep odds we face, Democrats from across the nation have stepped up. Over 64,000 individual donors contributed a combined $1.7 million dollars to our party helping fuel an unprecedented Democratic victory in our May 16th elections, the first election since the SCOTUS ruling against the VRA. And now key leaders like Gavin Newsom, US Senator Cory Booker, and former Vice President Kamala Harris who just announced she will head to New Orleans, are wading in to join our fight against the disenfranchisement of over 1.5 million Black voters: The battle lines are being drawn in real time. Powerful forces are amassing on both sides. Republicans are scared because they know Democrats can win in their own backyard. To do our part in 2026 Louisiana Democrats have this gargantuan task in front of us: Defend incumbent Congressman Cleo Fields and Congressman Troy Carter from MAGA attempts to unseat them. MAGA has already come for Congressman Cleo Fields’ district but Carter’s district may now be next on the redistricting chopping block. Flip Louisiana’s red US Senate Seat and elect Louisiana’s first Black US Senator, Democrat Jamie Davis. Compete in all four of Louisiana’s 4 red Congressional districts — for the first time in many years Louisiana Dems have a candidate vying for each seat. Democrats performed so well on May 16th, so many women and Black voters showed up, and MAGA’s 5 constitutional amendments were rejected so mightily, that James Carville said Democrats have a “fighting chance” to flip the US Senate seat in Louisiana this year. There was never supposed to be a fight of this magnitude in Louisiana and MAGA is panicking. If they lose the Deep South, there is no coming back from this. So please, will you join Kamala Harris and tens of thousands of your fellow Democrats to stand by the side of the Louisiana Democratic Party? We are facing everything that MAGA can throw at us. Please split a donation of $50, $25, or even just $5 between Louisiana Democrats and Colorado Turnout Project to help us continue carrying on our fight: If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your split donation between the Louisiana Democratic Party and Colorado Turnout Project will go through immediately: Donate $10 >> Donate $25 >> Donate $50 >> Donate $100 >> Donate $250 >> Donate $500 >> Donate Another Amount >> Help fight back by making a monthly recurring donation >> Thank you for joining the fight when we needed you most.
