Fellow Kansan,
I am back in Washington, D.C. for a full week of legislative activity and committee work. If you would like more information on what I am working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media.
I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come.
Yours in service,

Last night, the House passed a series of bills focused on preventing fraud, increasing accountability, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly. Americans deserve a government that is a good steward of their hard-earned money, and House Republicans remain committed to rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse wherever it exists.
This week, the House will take up one of the most important national security packages of the year. The Secure America Act provides critical funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and other Department of Homeland Security programs that keep Americans safe.
For months, Democrats have refused to support the resources needed to secure our border and enforce our immigration laws. After four years of open-border policies under President Biden, the American people made it clear they want a secure border, safe communities, and a government that enforces the law. This legislation will fund those programs for the next three years.
I will also participate in a House Agriculture Committee roundtable tomorrow on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Trade is critical to Kansas agriculture, and I look forward to discussing ways we can strengthen export opportunities for producers, expand market access, and ensure American agriculture remains competitive around the world.

| Working with Secretary Rollins on Food for Peace | | |
I questioned Secretary Brooke Rollins during a House Agriculture Committee hearing last week about USDA’s successful administration of the Food for Peace program and the importance of keeping American-grown commodities at the center of international food assistance. Food for Peace is a Kansas-born program that expands markets for American farmers while feeding hungry people around the world.
After years of work, including legislation I introduced in Congress, Food for Peace has finally returned to its rightful home at USDA. Secretary Rollins highlighted the progress USDA has already made administering the program, and I look forward to continuing to work with the Trump Administration to ensure Food for Peace remains focused on supporting American agriculture, strengthening global food security, and being a good steward of taxpayer dollars.
| | Introducing Legislation to Streamline Homebuilding | |
Yesterday, I introduced the bipartisan Build American Efficiency Act, legislation that will help builders and manufacturers navigate complicated federal requirements while getting more American homes built faster. America needs more housing, and that means reducing unnecessary delays and cutting through red tape that slows down construction.
As Co-Chair of the Congressional Real Estate Caucus, I have worked to advance commonsense solutions that increase housing supply and make homeownership more attainable. The Build American Efficiency Act helps builders more easily identify products that comply with Build America, Buy America requirements, reducing paperwork, uncertainty, and costly delays while continuing to support American-made products and American workers.
| Fighting for Agricultural Producers in Congress | | |
Last week, the House passed the Fiscal Year 2027 Agriculture Appropriations bill, continuing our work to support the farmers, ranchers, and producers who feed, fuel, and clothe the world. This legislation keeps USDA focused on its core mission by investing in agricultural research, rural communities, food security programs, and the tools producers need to succeed.
The Agriculture Appropriations bill is the latest in a series of actions House Republicans have taken to strengthen American agriculture. Earlier this year, we passed the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 to provide producers with greater certainty and reauthorize key farm programs, and we passed year-round E15 legislation to expand markets for Kansas crops and give families more choices at the pump. Together, these efforts reflect our commitment to supporting the hardworking men and women of agriculture and cutting the regulations that make their life harder.
