Georgia Republicans are trying to take the state back to the days of Jim Crow when it comes to voting rights over a holiday that celebrates the end of slavery.

But we have no intention of giving up. Georgians and allies from across the South are going to show up, speak out, and show that 'we the people' are opposed.

Lauren invited all of y’all to Atlanta for Juneteenth during our live chat today. That’s because, in what’s hard to see as anything other than a deliberate provocation, Georgia’s Governor, Brian Kemp, has called the state legislature back into session on June 17. Georgia Republicans are, quite literally, going to try and take the state back to the days of Jim Crow when it comes to voting rights over a holiday that celebrates the end of slavery.

But Fair Fight, the organization Lauren leads, has no intention of giving up. They’re planning a major protest. Lauren wants your help and she has specific ideas that she shares with us. She’s committed to good trouble, being in Georgia, home of John Lewis. And encouraging primary voting numbers in South Carolina and Alabama, of all places, give us reason to believe that if we all work on it together, we can make a real difference come November.

If you missed us live earlier today, you can watch the video now.

We’re in this together,

Joyce
