That’s why we established Funding Our Freedom, a $10 million emergency campaign designed to keep grassroots organizations funded and to sustain the global LGBTIQ advocacy infrastructure that protects them.

Funding Our Freedom is off to an encouraging start. By month’s end, Outright will have awarded $3.6–$3.8 million in grants to more than 120 LGBTIQ groups across 100 countries.

It’s a considerable sum. But it’s not enough when frontline organizations have lost tens of millions in funding and face active oppression from their own governments... and when many queer people are living under conditions where being openly themselves can expose them to violence, harassment, and arrest.
