Hey John,
I’m from Lee County, born and raised on the family farm where I still live and work. We’ve had the farm for a couple of generations now. My family also ran a farm supply store for many years, so I grew up hearing about farm issues. I’ve had lots of conversations with farmers over the years, so I understand both how much people love farming and how hard it can be to make a living from it.
The current administration is doing next to nothing to address the economic challenges that farmers face. Tariffs and the war overseas have caused higher prices for fuel, fertilizer, and supplies, all of which make staying afloat harder for farmers.
The administration and the Republicans in Congress are taking farmers for granted, and that’s gotta end. I think farmers need less political theater and more policy that drives lower costs and supports stable markets. Farmers also deserve leaders who understand their work and what they need to feel supported.
When I get to Washington, I’ll vote for legislation that supports farmers and farming communities.
