Dear john, 100 days ago, Donald Trump started a war in Iran. Since then, at least 13 American servicemembers have been killed in action, hundreds have been wounded, and thousands of civilians across the region have died or been injured. The Pentagon has already spent more than $33 billion in taxpayer dollars. With negotiations in a deadlock, Americans have been forced to shell out nearly $60 billion extra in fuel prices. And while seven in ten Americans want the war to end ASAP, when asked directly about the possible collapse of peace negotiations with Iran, President Trump said: "I don’t care if they’re over, honestly. I really don’t care. I couldn’t care less.” Here in El Paso, gas prices have skyrocketed to an average of $4.475/gallon – a 40% increase from one year ago. Even if the war were to end today, energy experts don’t expect gas prices to stabilize for more than a year. As your Member of Congress, I proudly voted for a bipartisan War Powers Resolution to prohibit President Trump from further using the American military in Iran. This resolution passed the U.S. House of Representatives on June 3rd, 2026.
