Last week, the Supreme Court handed down a ruling that should alarm every one of us.

The Court cleared the way for Alabama to use a congressional map that erases one of the only two districts where Black voters had the power to elect a candidate of their choice — overruling a lower court that had found those lines intentionally discriminated against Black voters. It's the second time in barely a month that the Court has gutted what's left of the Voting Rights Act.

From Alabama to Louisiana to Tennessee to Texas, the Republican Party has made a decision: rather than earn the votes of Black Americans and working families, they'll simply erase them. Redraw the maps, dilute the power, and silence the voices most likely to demand change.

We watched it happen right here a month ago, when the Tennessee legislature carved up Memphis and split Nashville to drain Black voting power across our state. But we know this strategy, built on silencing people, only works if those people stay silent.

Vincent Dixie is running for Congress in TN-07 to make our voices heard. He’s running straight into this fight to prove that no map, no ruling, and no amount of rigging can erase a movement that refuses to back down.
