Friends --
Almost all of the COVID relief from March has now expired.
It has been three months since the House has passed the HEROES Act to extend and expand relief. While so many of us are stepping up to help our friends, our family, and our neighbors, Senate Republicans have done nothing.
They've refused to give another round of direct cash to the millions of Americans barely staying afloat. They've refused to keep enhanced unemployment benefits for the tens of millions of people out of work. They've refused to support our state and local governments, many of which are facing bankruptcy due to the devastating effect COVID-19 has had on local commerce.
The HEROES Act proposes $1 trillion in relief to state and local governments.
The Senate's counter-proposal? Not a single cent. Where is the good-faith in that?
To come back with zero dollars is to completely ignore the harsh realities so many folks are facing across the country and the need to urgently provide meaningful relief.
If one thing has been made crystal clear throughout this pandemic, it's that who we elect to office truly matters -- especially in times of crisis.
Free and fair elections are essential for the well-being of our democracy. And the current administration is openly attacking our right to vote. President Trump has admitted he's blocking support for the Post Office to stop mail-in voting.
Right now, I'm in Washington to vote on critical legislation to protect the Postal Service and our democracy from these attacks.
Please add your voice to this fight by signing our petition here demanding Congress save the Postal Service.
