Otherwise, let me remind you why I ran for the Senate — and why these midterm elections are even more urgent.

Before I was elected, I led investigations of corruption and human rights abuses worldwide. We exposed wrongdoing in countries where criticizing the government is dangerous, where whistleblowers and witnesses will only meet in secret, where protest carries the risk of prosecution.

More and more, Trump's rule reminds me of those places where dissent was silenced by intimidation.

I ran for Senate in Georgia because I saw the danger in electing someone so profoundly unfit for the presidency, and to confront the corruption that made his rise possible. We defeated him, and I won.

But now, this President is staging a power grab unprecedented in our history. This President has:

• Tried to jail elected leaders of the opposition and prosecute Americans who have defied or criticized him.


• Allowed masked federal agents to kick down Americans’ doors without so much as a warrant from a judge, assault and even kill Americans with apparent license from the very top.


• Used the office of the Presidency to enrich his family in a way we have never, ever seen in American history.

This is not a drill, and it’s not a bad dream. As citizens, this moment is the test of our lifetimes.

The only way to dig ourselves out of this chaos is absolute victory in the midterms.

And just like last time, I can’t do it alone.
