We are happy to share with you one more story of the recipients from our Families Reunidas Bond Program, Ronald. He is a Haitian asylum seeker who was in detention for seven months.
We are thrilled to have helped bond out one more person OMDC and reunited with his family. One more person will no longer have to experience the horrible conditions of ICE jails. He is now starting his new life life in Florida and is excited to finally be free.
Ronald is the 49th person to be bonded out, and we are continuing to use this momentum to speak out against injustices and get as many individuals out of detention as soon as possible. We are so grateful to all of you for your continued support. We are relying on you to use your voice, and use your platforms to help spread awareness about this issue and cause.
Given our world's current state, it is difficult to feel like one can make a difference. But, by not remaining silent, by continuing to question and put pressure on unfair and unjust policies, you are helping inspire change.
You all continue to amaze us. We see you, we appreciate you and we thank you!
Let this story serve as a reminder of all the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and community members waiting in such conditions in detention, simply for seeking a place or a part in this country. Ronald represents so many others being subject to racist and inhumane policies, and we must not forget the urgency of getting everyone we can out of the Otay Mesa Detention Center. This pandemic continues to be unforgiving, and we will not allow any more lives lost. Again, we thank you for your support and ask you to continue to help us make sure our folks are #FreeAndAlive.
