Hi there, As of now, there are hundreds of fires blazing across California, displacing people from their homes, threatening wildlife, and filling the air with a choking smoke. But Berkeley is not doing nearly enough to combat climate change and keep us safe. The current Mayor is endorsing a plan to cut down carbon emissions by 80% with a deadline of 2050 -- this is 20 years later than the IPCC’s timeline! Currently in Berkeley, antiquated code regulations prevent us from transitioning to a sustainable city. Only the wealthy are able to upgrade to solar energy, switch to electric heating, or electric cars because of outdated regulations that make it expensive to move towards more sustainable energy. But with new leadership and my background in environmental science research, we can reach carbon neutrality by 2025 and fight these climate-related catastrophes. We will electrify and solarize our energy; we will cut down greenhouse gas emissions by providing plant-based foods to our community; we will create a Green District and expand this to the rest of Berkeley and inspire other cities to do the same. But to do this, we need you to be part of it: Share our campaign with a friend today and help us create the first truly Green New City. Can you help? - Wayne |
