Hi there,
Earlier this week, we celebrated our Democratic nominees in our target
House districts where primaries just concluded. But House races weren’t
all that was on the ballot this week—so today, we’re taking a look at what
happened in the Iowa statewide races we’re targeting this November.
In the Senate race, Josh Turek won the Democratic nomination with over 62%
of the vote. He’s a two-time Paralympic gold medalist for Team USA, and a
state legislator who represents the reddest seat held by a Democrat in the
state of Iowa. He has the experience needed to defeat his Republican
opponent, Ashley Hinson, in a state Republicans are used to winning.
Iowa’s Senate race is in our reach category, meaning this race is a slight
stretch, but with limited chances to win more seats in 2028 and 2030, we
have to treat each seat as an opportunity and compete hard. The support of
the Swing Left community could make a real difference in this race.
The best way to support Josh Turek and the Democratic nominees in our
other reach races ahead of the midterm elections is to [ [link removed] ]click here and

And in the race for governor, State Auditor Rob Sand won the Democratic
nomination uncontested. As the only statewide-elected Democrat in Iowa,
he’s already proven he has what it takes to win in a state that typically
leans to the right. He’ll face Zach Lahn in the general election, a
conservative Republican whose primary win is being celebrated by the
president of the RFK Jr.-aligned MAHA PAC.

These races have the potential to be close, which is why it’s so important
to make sure these campaigns have the money and volunteer help they need
to win as early as possible. We’re laying the groundwork now to win in
November, and it’s only possible thanks to you—so thank you, as always,
for everything you do.
