I’m about to say something that will piss off a lot of people in Washington: It shouldn't cost $100 million to run for U.S. Senate.
If that's what it takes to get elected in America, who do you think our elected officials are going to listen to when they get to Washington?
The people who chipped in $10? Or the billionaires, corporations, and special interests who spent millions getting them there?
That's the real problem: We've built a political system where money talks louder than people.
And ever since Citizens United , it's gotten worse.
So let me be blunt: Citizens United is the worst Supreme Court decision in modern history — and I’m calling for a constitutional amendment to overturn it.
I believe that your vote shouldn't be drowned out by billionaire money, and that your voice shouldn't matter less because somebody else has a bigger bank account.
But if we're ever going to fix Washington, we have to start by breaking the connection between political power and unlimited wealth. That’s why this campaign isn't funded by a handful of billionaires — it's funded by thousands of ordinary people giving what they can.
That's how we beat this system: Together. So I’m asking you personally to chip in $5 or $10 today to help us build a Senate campaign that answers to people, not special interests. Can I count on you? [[link removed]?]
