Hi John,
I'd be lying if I said I didn't cry watching the Democratic National Convention this week. Seeing our incredible leaders break barriers and radiate hope has been beyond cathartic.
And I'm proud, too.
This week, we watched Run for Something alumni and progressive champions Michigan
Rep. Mari Manoogian and Pennsylvania
Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta join the convention as keynote speakers.
Kenyatta and Manoogian are barrier breakers themselves: Rep. Kenyatta is the first openly LGBTQ person of color to serve in the Pennsylvania General Assembly, and Manoogian is the youngest woman serving in the Michigan legislature and the first Armenian American woman in the State House.
Their journey to the convention stage began as a conversation, one that every elected official has with their friends, families, loved ones, and themselves. It started as a question -- one I hope you're asking yourself today: "Should I run for office?"
Ask yourself: Do you want to empower your community to grow? Do you want to shatter glass ceilings and make history? Will you work hard to drive change?
John, if you've answered yes to any of my questions -- I've got an answer for you:
Yes, you should Run for Something… And we'll help you.
Here's your next step: Find out where you can run locally. Change starts at the state and local level, but it won't come at all if good people don't step up to the plate.
I hope you'll raise your hand, and if you don't,
we'll keep asking.
Thanks,
Amanda Litman

P.S. In case you missed it during Monday's convention intro, Judge Lina Hidalgo of Harris County, TX, and VA Delegate Danica Roem were also part of the evening's program. RFS alum are the present and future leaders of our party. You truly love to see it.
P.P.S And if you thought you saw me up there at the top of the show last night, you're right!!
