Hi john,
Wow. Typical that the bodily autonomy snatchers start June, the Gayest Month of the Year, with several vicious attacks on our reproductive rights. This week in particular felt like every abortion-related headline was generated by a dystopian AI, trained exclusively to shart out cruelty. Luckily, we’re not in this hellscape alone.
Here's What Had Us Scream-Texting Each Other This Week:
Reports revealed that pregnant unaccompanied minors are being held in a Texas ICE facility [[link removed]] . Members of Congress trying to investigate say they were blocked from speaking directly with many of the kids. Pregnant children . In detention. With limited answers about what medical care they're receiving and how they got pregnant in the first place.
The people who never stop talking about "protecting children" seem to have no problem sending pregnant KIDS to the reproductive healthcare black hole that they created in Texas. It’s almost like that was their plan all along!
A collage-style reaction meme graphic featuring a variety of people making stressed, confused, shocked, exasperated, and cringe expressions. Centered over the collage is bold black text outlined in teal that reads: “READING THE ABORTION NEWS THIS WEEK.” The background includes multiple well-known reaction images showing people facepalming, wincing, staring in disbelief, crying, yelling, or looking overwhelmed. A dark blue patterned border surrounds the image, repeating the letters “AF.” The overall tone is humorous and conveys frustration, exhaustion, and disbelief in response to recent abortion-related news. How Else Does Losing Access To Abortion Ruin Lives? Let Us Count The Ways…
The studies show us that, as predicted, gutting abortion access means taking the “care” out of misCARriage! [[link removed]] This week, a story broke out of Arkansas, where Emily Waldorf nearly died during a miscarriage [[link removed]] because doctors said their hands were tied by the state's abortion ban. Hospital leadership said they couldn’t do anything, the governor's office said the same thing. Waldorf had to hire a lawyer to advocate for staying alive .
Instead of receiving immediate care, she was forced into a dangerous medical crisis that ultimately required emergency intervention after she was transferred out of state. Because apparently in Arkansas, your survival depends on whether lawyers feel comfortable enough to let doctors do their job.
But wait, there’s more…
How ‘bout the woman in Illinois who says she struggled to get treatment for an ectopic pregnancy [[link removed]] , despite living in a state where abortion rights are protected? This is what happens when politicians go General Zod on doctors, threatening hospitals and turning medical care into a scorched earth of abortion access. Pregnant people pay the price.
We Promise This Week Wasn’t a Total Shitshow
Illinois lawmakers just passed a bill that would allow patients to shield abortion information from their digital medical records. [[link removed]] Why? Because people have been traveling to states like Illinois for care and then finding themselves punished when providers, employers, insurers, or anti-abortion states get access to that information. Apparently in America in 2026, getting healthcare now requires ALL THREE of Charlie’s Angels on your side to get it done.
Now for Some Ways You Can Fight Back!
Yes, okay, it’s really bleak right now — so take that energy, get out in your community, and make a difference!
A graphic promoting the Mife Stories project. Against a black background, all-capitalized text in teal and white reads: Your medication abortion story matters, helps, and protects access. Across the bottom of the graphic is a teal strip with white text giving the website where you can submit a story: mifestories.com. There are also the four logos of the organizations working on this project: Abortion Access Front, Shout Your Abortion, We Testify, and Ultraviolet. [[link removed]]
If you’ve had a medication abortion, congrats! You are exactly who we need.
Anti-abortion ghouls are out here lying through their busted teeth to ban mifepristone (mife), trying to eliminate access by mail, and even roll back approval entirely of a medication that has been used safely worldwide for DECADES. So no, we’re not letting that slide.
Your medication abortion story is the reality check to the propaganda driving this hard turn into the 1800s! Drop your story at Mifestories.com, and help drag the truth into the light: mifepristone is safe, effective, and basic healthcare. And we all deserve access.
