While we have much to celebrate, it is clear that significant work remains before the general election in November and beyond. Immediate need: CA-06 is one of the districts created by Prop 50 where it was hoped Democrats would pick up a seat, but a split Democratic field may lock us out completely. Julann Brown, the new chair of the Placer County Democratic Party, is calling for volunteers to help with ballot curing to keep that seat in play. With several Democratic candidates, there is a chance that this blue district advances two Republicans and sends a MAGA toady to DC. Please sign up. Click here. Background With Prop 50, MAGA Congressman Kevin Kiley (CD-3) changed his party registration to NPP and launched his campaign in CD-6. If elected, he would continue to caucus with the House Republicans. Current Situation Kiley is currently the top vote-getter and the second-place candidate is a Republican. In third place is Democratic candidate Dr. Richard Pan, who served in the CA State Legislature from 2010-2022. The district includes parts of Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo Counties. What's Needed CADEM is working with Dr. Pan's campaign and the DCCC to conduct a 'ballot curing' operation. In other words, we need to contact Democratic voters whose ballots the county recorder rejected (due to signature mismatch, etc.) and have them correct those ballots. This requires a lot of assistance from folks just like you! Once we have the lists ready, we will need volunteers to call these voters to alert them about their ballot rejections and explain how to correct the issue. We may also need people to visit voters' houses to make contact. All of this will be explained in an upcoming Zoom training session this Saturday, June 6th .
