Dear John,
June 2026
Welcome to my June newsletter!
Firstly, my sincere congratulations to both the Ilam residents who were recognised in the King’s Birthday honours. Associate Professor Nicola Austin ONZM for services to Children’s Health. She is a leading paediatrician and clinical neonatologist who has greatly improved neonatal services, particularly here in Christchurch.
Our second recipient is Inspector Nu Grant MNZM for his services to the NZ Police and the community. His incredible work in Police outreach has strengthened connections with the wider Pacific. As Forward Commander he led the rescue of more than 100 people in the Forsyth Barr building following the 2011 earthquake.
Of course, last week Minister Willis read Budget ’26. There is a lot to take in so Treasury has put together Budget at a glance – here is the link.
