John,
While this is not the outcome we hoped for, I want you to know that this campaign was never just about winning a single seat in Congress.
From the very beginning, we set out to give our community a real alternative to the broken system we all struggle under. We set out to imagine a political system that puts working families and rural communities at the absolute center, and a democracy that is truly accountable to the people it serves.
To everyone who volunteered, knocked on doors, made phone calls, sent texts, talked to their neighbors, or simply believed that we deserved better: thank you. I am so incredibly proud of how we showed up for each other.
While I’m feeling the weight of this loss right alongside you, I am not despairing. Movements are not built by people who accept broken systems. They are built by people courageous enough to imagine what comes next and determined enough to fight for it.
The challenges facing our towns did not begin with this election, and they will not end with it. The work of building a more representative democracy and creating room at the table for working people, young people, women, and marginalized communities continues.
And so does my commitment to that work.
I will continue fighting right alongside you, advocating for the values that brought us together, and working toward a future where our government truly belongs to the people.
Thank you for believing in this movement. Thank you for your courage, your hope, and your trust. Let's keep building.
To building a better future,
