Trump is attacking federal scientists. We’re fighting back.
John,
Yesterday, our SEEC members held a press conference with climate scientists and activists who marched over 250 miles from New York to Washington, D.C., collecting signatures along the way to highlight why climate research is so critical.
Their message was loud and clear: We must protect U.S. climate and weather research from Donald Trump’s devastating federal funding cuts.
We were proud to receive the signatures they collected at the culmination of their 12-day march and to let them know they are not alone.
As SEEC Co-Chair Paul Tonko said, “Thank you to the scientists who have walked 250 miles from New York to be here today in our nation’s capital to advocate for the importance of U.S. scientific leadership. Our country does not run without scientists like you.”
He also highlighted an important bill he is sponsoring called the Scientific Integrity Act which aims to provide much-needed protections for our federal scientists, help restore public trust, and ensure the United States remains a leader in scientific research and innovation.
Thanks to your help in 2024, SEEC PAC re-elected over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night when Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 119th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
