Friend,
The corporate media is afraid to say it, but we're not: Donald Trump is
staging a slow motion coup right before our eyes.
He's sabotaging the U.S. Postal Service, suppressing in-person voting,
and telling his supporters that the only way he could lose is if there's
widespread voter fraud.
Louis DeJoy, Trump's political hack postmaster general, was caught
red-handed removing sorting machines and trucking away mailboxes, and
still refuses to replace them.
And as worrisome as the attacks on mail-in voting are, top elections
lawyer Mark Elias says that the attacks on the Postal Service aren't
even what he's most worried about. His number one concern is the closure
of polling places, especially in low income and predominantly black
communities.
Remember the Wisconsin Supreme Court election earlier this year where
they shut down of all but five polling places in the entire city of
Milwaukee? Lines were hours long for an election in April. Imagine what
the lines would be like in November.
But right now, as we approach the most dangerous election we've ever
seen, some of our most reliable, recurring monthly contributors are
being forced to cut off their donations because of the economic crash.
Our base of support has always been average, every day Americans, and we
know how hard they're struggling. But if you're fortunate enough to be
able to give even during these difficult times, please chip in whatever
you can. Our democracy depends on it.
People are cancelling recurring donations as we approach the most
dangerous election of our lives. Will you chip in to help make sure we
have the resources to report out every dirty trick Trump and the
Republicans pull to suppress the vote this fall?
