Gil Cisneros Goes on Summer Recess While 39th District Families Suffer
Congress Adjourned for Remainder of August Without a Deal on Needed COVID-19 Relief

Fullerton, CA - As many residents of the 39th Congressional District are wondering if they will be able to pay their mortgage, how their children will be educated, or if they have a job to go back to as COVID-19 persists, Congressman Gil Cisneros continues his two week recess from Congress ([link removed]) . Gil Cisneros’ seems content with sitting on the sidelines while there is no agreement in sight on the critical aid that families, workers, small businesses, and schools need.

“Only Washington politicians like Gil Cisneros would think it is okay to go home while tens of thousands of his constituents suffer through the worst economic and health crisis of our lifetimes,” said Young Kim, former Assemblywoman and 39th District Candidate. “The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us a true absence of leadership from our Congressman. He has continued to put party above the people of this district and has walked away from his responsibilities at the very time the people of our district need it most."

Early in the pandemic, Cisneros stayed silent as Congress allowed the critical Paycheck Protection Program to lapse ([link removed]) , dealing a serious blow to local small businesses and workers that were in desperate need of relief. Cisneros then voted for the Democrats partisan HEROES Act that was slammed by moderate democrats, denounced by Orange County Congresswoman Katie Porter as being “Democratic wishlist” ([link removed]) and condemned by local elected officials ([link removed]) from across the 39th District. He has continued to push the failed legislation despite his colleagues admitting it has no chance of becoming law
([link removed]) .

California continues to experience high rates of COVID-19 infections and each county in the 39th District is under state mandated shutdowns. The impact on small businesses, workers, families, and local governments has been high.
