Hey, it’s Rob Sand with some great news: Tonight, I officially became the
Democratic nominee for Governor of Iowa.
The other big development of the evening? I’ll face Republican Zach Lahn
in the general election.
If you’re thinking, “Who?” allow me to enlighten you.
Zach Lahn presents himself as some kind of outsider despite being aligned
with (or even MORE extreme than) Kim Reynolds in basically every way that
counts. Yet he’s trying to convince us that the solution to ten years of
failed one-party rule is…four more years of one-party rule.
Clearly, there’s an extraordinary amount at stake in this election, and
it’s really, really important that we come out on top in November, so I’ll
pop the question:
[ [link removed] ]Will YOU become one of the very first supporters of my general election
campaign with a contribution of any amount today? Your contribution will
lay the groundwork for everything we do in the next five months and
everything we achieve in the next four years.

I’ve been traveling to all 99 counties every year since I ran for Auditor
back in 2017. There’s one thing EVERYBODY — Democrat, Republican,
independent, etc. — can agree on: the status quo is failing the majority
of Iowans.
We’re in the grips of a generational farm crisis, mass layoffs, education
cuts, rising cancer rates, rural hospital closures, brain drain, and an
economy that is now the worst in the country.
These are real problems that affect real people. Meanwhile, Zach Lahn is
palling around with Steve King and fighting radicalism in fifth-grade math
textbooks. 🙄
Iowans are fighting an uphill battle just to make ends meet. They’re
tired, and tired of fighting. It’s time to leave the culture wars behind.
This race is a toss-up, according to the experts at Cook Political Report,
because we’ve built one of the broadest bipartisan coalitions in American
politics. That’s why the choice we face in this election is so much more
than (D) or (R).
It’s between a divisive culture warrior or a proven public servant who
brings people together.
I believe Iowans will see the contrast, but winning requires us to be
realistic about the challenges we’re facing. This race is wide open. The
political winds are unpredictable. I don’t take any corporate PAC money.
Our success depends on whether we can sustain our incredible grassroots
energy in the months ahead.
The decisions of over 60,000 small-dollar donors to invest in this
campaign propelled us to this moment. Now I’m asking you to become one of
the first founding donors of my general election campaign.
[ [link removed] ]$1, $5, $25, $100...literally anything you can spare will help me
defeat Zach Lahn in this toss-up governor's race and put Iowa on the path
to recovery. So, John, are you with me?
