Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Labor Day is about honoring the sacrifices and accomplishments of workers in our country. It's about remembering that the hard-fought rights that labor unions have won continue to benefit all workers - union or not. So while we enjoy this holiday weekend with family or friends, don't forget to stop and think about why we have this holiday in the first place. And while you're at it, sign up to donate blood if you are able. Blood supplies drop to critical levels over Labor Day weekend, so every last donation makes a big difference.

There are also many family-friendly events taking place in celebration of Labor Day. Check out this list of events across Iowa, including the always-popular Labor Day parade and picnic in Des Moines.

Thank you for all that you do. We hope you have a safe and celebratory Labor Day weekend.

In Solidarity,

Danny Homan, President
