Allied Media Projects and Essay’d invite you to attend the premiere screening of Art in a Changing Landscape: Detroit and the Disconnected Logic of Funding on Thursday, June 4th, at the LOVE Building.
This documentary film is both a love letter to the city of Detroit and a challenge to reassess the way art is and should be funded in such a rapidly changing landscape.
A pangolin noses its way from Detroit’s North End to the City’s Stadium District, passing by Milwaukee Junction, birthplace of the US automotive industry, and the Detroit Institute of Arts. Artists, researchers, and activists discuss the relationship between their lived experiences and the patterns of uneven development in Metropolitan Detroit and its art ecosystem.
Following the screening, join us for an artist panel discussion moderated by multidisciplinary artist Bree Gant, featuring Steve Panton, Halima Afi Cassells, and more.
