Public schools in Texas are being forced to cut staff and close their
doors.

Even after a large investment last year, school districts are still facing
major budget cuts. Meanwhile, Greg Abbott pushes through his voucher
scheme, continuing to deprive public schools of stable, long-term funding.

Abbott and GOP lawmakers know that when public school enrollment drops and
schools lose funding, neighborhood schools, children, and educators will
pay the price — but they do nothing about it.

Texas kids deserve better than a system that lurches from crisis to crisis
while Abbott plays politics with their futures.

I’m running for governor to support and properly fund public education,
keep neighborhood schools open, and make sure Texas schools can hire and
keep the staff our kids need.
