Happy Pride Month!
This is a month to celebrate — the love, the joy, the hard-won visibility, and the generations of people who made it possible to live openly as who you are. That's worth celebrating.
It's also a month where the celebration carries some weight this year. I have met many folks on this campaign trail whose rights ranging from gender affirming care to even marriage are under threat.
To the LGBTQIA+ community everyone in WA-05 and beyond celebrating this month, I'm with you. Happy Pride.
If you would like to get more involved at Pride, you can sign up to volunteer with our team here ([link removed]) , or directly with Spokane Pride ([link removed]) as I know they need more volunteers for the parade and festival!

Door Knocking with Sarah Dixit in Nevada Heights
Last Saturday we did some door knocking alongside Sarah Dixit in the same communities that aided in her victory last November. This was a great way to interact 1-on-1 with community members and ended with an endorsement by a strong advocate for young progressives and marginalized communities.
LET’S TALK! Candidates Forum
Last week, I attended the LET’S TALK! Candidates Forum in Fairfield. It was great seeing a small town and being able to connect and listen to the concerns of our rural communities including our small businesses and agriculture. Every vote and every person counts in this election, including our rural communities.

** Kevin’s Take
------------------------------------------------------------
Going to the grocery store and gas station are essential errands that already add up quickly. With the ongoing war in Iran, gas prices have skyrocketed, adding yet another burden to the shoulders of millions of Americans. Now, economists warn that grocery bills are expected to rise even higher ahead of the November elections.
These rising prices while maintaining a fixed income add financial and emotional stress to everyone, but especially lower and middle class families that are simply trying to make ends meet. These families are already being forced to stretch every dollar to afford basic necessities, and it is only supposed to get worse. In the world we live in, cutting back on gas and food are rarely options. Transportation is what gets people to work, school, and appointments, while groceries are essential for sustaining life.
As the election season rolls around, voters should carefully consider which candidates are prepared to address and act on rising costs. Instead of advocating for war and tariffs, Americans deserve leaders that serve the people, lowering costs for working families, strengthening the economy, and protecting access to essentials Americans should not have to decide between filling their gas tank or their refrigerator, and so this election season is not merely about politics; it is about ensuring that all families can afford to make ends meet.
