You may have seen the news that President Trump is abandoning his plans to hand out $1.8 billion in taxpayer funds to his allies who claim to be the victims of government weaponization.

We sued quickly to shut down the illegal, corrupt fund. It looks like our pressure is working but we're not going to stop pushing until the fund is truly shuttered, once and for all.

Unfortunately, we have reasons to be suspicious that the fight to shutter the fund permanently is not over yet.

The Department of Justice has not actually confirmed the press reports that it is abandoning the slush fund. All they have said is that they will comply with the temporary restraining order in one case challenging the fund, which expires as soon as June 12.

John, President Trump and his administration have not earned the public trust that they will do the right thing—even when faced with bipartisan backlash and court orders. Corruption is their default mode of operation, and it’s up to us to hold them accountable.

CREW will press forward with our case unless and until the government proves that it is permanently abandoning the fund and that it will not try to pull this corrupt stunt again.

So here’s where our case stands: The DOJ's response to our temporary restraining order motion is due on Friday 6/5 at 5pm. We have a hearing on that motion next week.

At that hearing, we will demand answers from the government.
